AFTERCARE

bandage

I like to use a Saniderm bandage for healing you tattoo. If you are unable to use saniderm, other options are available.

How to Use Saniderm to Heal your Tattoo:

  • The bandage can be left on for 3-5 days

  • Underneath your bandage you will begin to notice liquid accumulating. This is totally normal and what we like to call the Ink Sack. It is blood plasma, excess ink, sweat, etc. Leave it alone. Do not poke holes or try and push the liquid out. If liquid can get out, bacteria can get in.

  • If the Bandage begins to come off, or liquid begins to leak before the 3-5 days, take the bandage off

  • When taking the bandage off, it is best to do in the shower with hot water. It can be painful so take your time. Once removed, use an unscented, soft soap to clean the tattoo. It will feel slimy, so clean it off til it feels tight.

  • Pat the tattoo dry with paper towel and allow the tattoo to fully dry out.

  • Once dry, you can use an unscented lotion 2-3 times a day. It does not need alot, only a small amount.

  • if you notice any scabs, stop using lotion and allow the scab to dry out and fall off. Do not pick the scab.

Other things to be aware of

  • Tattoos can take 3-6 weeks to fully heal.

  • While the tattoo is healing, please avoid:

    • submerging/soaking the tattoo

    • Sun exposure

    • Picking/itching the tattoo

    • Dirty environments

    • Saunas/Steam rooms

    • Take a minimum of a week off from the gym

  • Always use a good sunscreen on your healed tattoo to preserve the tattoo

If you have sensitive skin/allergic to Saniderm, please let me know and we can use other bandages for you!
